Resilience: our ability to bounce back
How does resilience relate to our ability to manage stress and anxiety in the workplace?
It is said that those with greater resilience, or the ability to bounce back, are better able to manage stress or the changes brought on by psychosocial difficulties.
A resilient employee deals well with the stressors and strains of the modern workplace. They have strong resources and skills to manage stress and conflict to help them deal with the pressures of work.
Being faced with changes in mood and anxiety due to psychological difficulties can be a significant transition. Many individuals struggle with the complex challenges of examining how this affects their ability to fulfil life roles and adapt.
Are your employees / clients drowning in work stress?
Some individuals learn to cope with changes and stressors in the work place in a relative short time, while others require more time to adjust. Their level of resilience may not be efficient.
To enhance employees’ resilience it is important to identify signs and symptoms of anxiety and poor stress management sooner rather than later.
Effective psychosocial intervention may educate individuals on how to successfully and creatively respond to stressors.
From a resilience perspective, what matters most are the relationships between intra- and interpersonal resilience factors.
