FunctionWise attended the Low Vision Conference, presented by the Low Vision Centre of Learning in Randburg, earlier in 2018. We have expanded our skillset to collaborate with optometrists to ensure that our clients with low vision and visual difficulties are treated and equipped to successfully return to their work tasks or adjust in their work environment.

We aim to assist clients with visual difficulties, function at the highest possible level, by teaching them new skills, modifying their work tasks or the work environment and by promoting a healthy lifestyle.

As experts in the field of vocational rehabilitation and return to work, we now offer skilful advice on reasonable accommodation and the use of assistive devices for clients who suffer from medically stable visual difficulties.

FunctionWise was recently involved in:

• A risk assessment of a warehouse environment for a client with monocular vision.
• A successful alternative placement and prescription of assistive devices for a client with low vision due to cone dystrophy.
• A return to work program for a client with neuro-visual difficulties.
• A return to work program for a client with diabetic neuropathy.
